Mr. Sackman is a Senior Program and Corporate Financial Manager with more than 30 years of professional experience. A visionary and solutions oriented leader and manager bringing complex problems and staff groups together to develop the best methods for improvement with minimum cost and change impact. Recognized early in his career for leadership and management talent, he has accumulated a unique and extensive breadth and depth of experience, best practices and technology awareness that enhances management staff and customer service. His experience encompasses projects in highly visible and sensitive environments with multi-billion dollar budgets, both small and large staff teams, and emerging, leading edge technologies while consistently producing innovative solutions and key results in high-pressure environments.
Mr. Sackman is a retired career U. S. Air Force officer with over 22 years active duty service in a variety of flying, Intercontinental Ballistic Missile command, Counterintelligence command and Air Staff positions, at duty positions in the United States and overseas. Following his study of trumpet performance since age 10 and prior to his Air Force service, Dennis served as a lead trumpeter with the 42nd Army National Guard Band (Kansas). His early musical achievements include multiple selections for state honors bands and as Assistant Principle Trumpet in the 1976 "America's Youth in Concert" performances for Bicentennial ceremonies in Philadelphia, PA, Carnegie Hall in New York, NY, and the subsequent summer European tour performances in London, Paris, Geneva, Innsbruck, Venice, Florence and Rome. In 2002, Sackman resumed a passion for trumpet performance he set aside for 25 years and, in addition to his position with the Reston Community Orchestra, he is a member and corporate officer (CFO) of the Fairfax City Band and its renowned Alte Kameraden German Band ensemble. He is also an active with the Vienna (VA) Community Band and formerly the Washington Redskins Band. Most important to him, he is blessed to be married to the former Deborah Elder of Bethesda, Maryland, and now lives with their daughter Julia in Fairfax County, Virginia.
